Lead by Professor Dr.-Ing. Jochen Büchs, the Chair of Biochemical Engineering is part of the Chemical Engineering of RWTH Aachen University. The group has extensively contributed to the qualitative and quantitative characterisation of engineering parameters (e.g. gas/liquid mass transfer) in different types of small scale culture systems. In addition, the group has developed the BioLector®-technique, which has subsequently been commercialised and enables online-monitoring of different parameters in shaken microtiter plates.
